Mariner's New Bats

Brendan Donovan

Brendan Donovan has picked up this spring exactly how he finished last year. Not a very big sample size so far for Donovan but he is 3-5 with 3 singles in his 2 games played so far this Spring. He has only played a couple of innings but per Daniel Kramer on X Donovan was staying behind after he got pulled to hang around the dugout to get to know the team on a deeper basis as this is just the start of his Mariners stint. Donovan said "I'm new here, and I'm trying to see how people play, talk to them, build relationships on a personal level."

Rob Refsnyder

The other offseason acquisition was Rob Refsnyder the free agent right fielder from the Red Sox. He has a very small sample size as well only playing in 2 games so far but he is 2-4 with a single and a double. Mariners are hoping he can be a nice platoon bat in right field with Dominic Canzone and Victor Robles.

Brennan Davis - Story

A very sneaky and quiet signing was Mariners signing Brennan Davis back in December. Davis was once a consensus top-20 prospect in all of baseball for the Cubs organization but he has yet to make his MLB debut. He was a second round pick back in 2018 when he was 18 and broke onto the scene in 2019 when he slashed .305 at the single A level in 50 games. After a season off of minor league baseball in 2020 due to Covid-19 he came back in 2021 and hit a solid .252 for the Cubs Double-A affiliate. He was still one of the games most coveted prospects but right when he was about to come up the Cubs fire sale began, and Davis struggled badly at the start of the year then underwent back surgery in May of 2022. Then the following year the Cubs added Cody Bellinger which forced him to be non-tendered from the Cubs organization. Then no luck in the Yankees organization but now the Mariners are taking another very low risk and sort of high reward on Davis.

Brennan Davis - Stats

So far for Brennan Davis in just this first week of spring training Davis has 14 total bases with 2 home runs and 3 doubles to bring his total to a .625 batting average. A very nice start to the spring for Davis as he might even be fighting for a spot on the team at the start of the year for his MLB debut.
